Do Period Pants work for Heavy Periods?11 October 2021 | Admin If you're unlucky enough to suffer from heavy periods or endometriosis, we understand that it can be completely debilitating and leave you feeling rubbish. Cheeky Pants are a female-led team and we have had to deal with heavy periods every single month. For years! So that's why we developed period underwear and pads which actually work, no matter how heavy your periods are! We introduced reusable period products, including sanitary pads and period pants a few years later as our bodies changed as we moved towards menopause and disposable period protection just wasn't working for us any more. We tried menstrual cups, but found that they just weren't for us, which is why we don't stock them. In this guide we'll look at: How do heavy periods affect you?Heavy periods aren't just about the inconvenience of heavy bleeding, pain or cramping. Here's how heavy periods can affect you in a number of ways which you probably haven't even considered: - with poor sleep, restless because you're always mindful that you might bleed through onto your bedding or wake up in a puddle of blood
- waking up in the morning but having to crawl to the toilet to stop blood running down your legs
- standing up and realising that you've passed a clot, or flooded your pad or knickers
- having to wear two forms of period protection at a time, either tampon and pad, or double maxi pads
- not being able to do sports or activities in case you leak through your protection, or because your period protection chafes or moves about
- not being able to wear the clothes you want to in case of leaks or because disposable pads are so bulky
We get it. We've been there. 
Why does my period blood leak to the back? Your period blood leaks to the back because your vagina entrance is towards the rear of your vulva. In addition, sleeping, sitting or lounging can compress your period blood and push the blood flowing towards the back of your knickers. If you compare Cheeky Pants to lots of other period pants brands, many of them only have protection in the gusset of their knickers. However we know that when you sleep, you move around from front to rear, so if you've got heavy periods it's really important to have protection to the front and rear waistband of your knickers because it means that you can sleep soundly. - potential to increase absorbency with reusable pads
If you're at the clotting / flooding / upper end of the scale with really heavy periods, Cheeky have a couple of period pants options just for you. We know that some of your have THE most horrendous periods and wearing double maxi pads is a thing. Which is pretty grim, as wearing one maxi pad alone is like wearing a nappy, never mind two. Our bamboo / charcoal reusable sanitary pads are the best sanitary pads for heavy flow. They come in liner, day pad or night pad, but if your periods are at the top end of the scale, then bamboo / charcoal day or night pads are your best bet. They're perfect for really heavy periods. It's just so much easier to whip out a pad at lunchtime and then just wear your period pants for the remainder of the day.
